BATON ROUGE, La. — No. 22 LSU defeated No. 16 Mississippi State 31-0 Saturday afternoon at Tiger Stadium, taking control early and never looking back.  Quarterback Sam Leavitt completed 31 of 38 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns, while wide receiver Jackson Harris added six receptions for 85 yards and two scores.

The Tigers jumped ahead 14-0 in the opening quarter and carried a 21-0 lead into halftime. Mississippi State struggled to find answers against an LSU defense that repeatedly came through in critical situations, stopping the Bulldogs on all five fourth-down attempts.

LSU improved to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in SEC play with the victory. Saturday’s performance gave the Tigers some much-needed momentum as they prepare to continue their conference schedule on the road against Auburn next weekend.
