THIBODAUX, La. — The Nicholls State University Colonels came up short Sunday afternoon, falling 1-0 to the East Texas A&M Lions in a Southland Conference women’s soccer matchup at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.

East Texas A&M secured the narrow victory with a single goal, while Nicholls was unable to find the equalizer. The result gave the visiting Lions an important conference win as both teams continued their push through the Southland Conference schedule.

Nicholls entered the contest looking to build on the momentum of a 2-1 victory over Stephen F. Austin on Thursday, October 8. Sophomore Angelina Rispone scored twice in that win, helping the Colonels earn another conference victory.

Sunday’s result marked a tougher outing for the Colonels, who were held scoreless against an East Texas A&M squad looking to strengthen its position in conference play.
