The Sky used a spectacular fourth-quarter comeback in their most recent win to defeat the Wings. It was a switch flip that only a team that knows they’re championship-caliber could pull off. As a result, Chicago takes its four-game winning streak into Wednesday’s showdown with the Seattle Storm.

The Storm has the W’s other four-game winning streak, which has been enough to earn them a top-3 spot in the league standings. Stewie is playing phenomenally, the defense is suffocating and the addition of Tina Charles is working well. A big-time matchup on Wednesday at Chicago will be must-see television.

And rightttttttt when the Aces looked like they were falling out of the championship mix, they responded with three straight wins — two over New York and one at Connecticut. They get the Dream, Fever and Sparks at home this week. Their three-game winning streak should extend to six.

The “meh” season continues on for the Sun. They have fallen somewhere between “really good” and “solid” for most of the year and that’s been reflected in their recent play. It’ll help to get Jonquel Jones back from the league’s health and safety protocols soon. Maybe her return from him gets the Sun rolling ahead of the postseason?

New week, same story for Washington. Much like the Sun, the Mystics are just casually getting by. But their season somehow feels like more of a successful one so far than Connecticut’s, for whatever reason. The only game on the docket this week for the Mystics is a Thursday home contest against New York. Then they’re off for a week.

Someone once told me never to count out a Cheryl Reeves team. The Lynx started the season poorly last year but rallied to finish as the third seed. They won’t finish as a No. 3 seed this season, but they’re unquestionably playing some good basketball over the last few weeks. So much so, the Lynx are two games out of sixth place. Every game for them is big, but the two against Connecticut will be quite the test to close the week.

The Wings really should be higher on this week’s list but they fell apart at the wrong time against the defending champion Sky. They’ve been better after a bad stretch, but are now right back in the thick of the playoff bracket.

I have no idea how the Dream are still clinging onto the No. 6 spot in the standings, but they are doing it. And shoutout to them for being in this position so far into the season. With three games this week (all on the road) against the Aces, Sparks and Storm, Atlanta will probably fall in the standings. At least, I think so.

I’ve run out of ways to describe this Phoenix team. The Mercury are fighting, which is something they weren’t doing for a while. I don’t know. They play Seattle on Friday, which they’ve beaten twice already this season. Let’s see if the Mercury can get a third.

It’s been an up-and-down year for the purple and gold, with more downs than ups. The Sparks were riding three straight wins the last time we ranked them, but now they’re on the heels of three L’s. Tough season for them.

Speaking of up-and-down seasons, I present to you the New York Liberty. Four straight losses, losers of six of the last seven, this super-talented roster shouldn’t be in the 11th spot in the standings.
