In 2011, the AFC West received criticism for being one of the worst divisions in football. Rightfully so following a division winning team led by Tim Tebow at quarterback who finished 8-8 while backing into the playoffs.
2012 is fixed to be completely different as Denver improved with Peyton Manning, San Diego will most likely bounce back from a disappointing season and Kansas City is one of the most talented teams in the division on both sides of the ball.
But there is one team that deserves to have the edge on their competition and that is the Oakland Raiders. Oakland finished the 2011 campaign 8-8 while watching Denver back into the postseason.
As Carson Palmer continues to get used to the offense, the team gets a full off-season of training, a complete training camp and a full preseason to prepare as a unit, expect Oakland to seriously contend in the AFC West in 2012.
Predictions for the Oakland Raiders’ season
Final record: Oakland Raiders 9-7
The AFC West will prove not to have one dominant team, but four teams that could defeat 95 percent of teams in the NFL. It will be a tough division that the Oakland Raiders will win via tiebreaker with the San Diego Chargers.
