According to Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pittsburgh Penguins have made an offer to unrestricted free agent Shane Doan.
Have confirmed the #Penguins have made offer to UFA Shane Doan and there is mutual interest. Don’t have terms of offer. No timetable.

After failing to land another big-time player in free agency, the Penguins are making the right move.
Pittsburgh is $10 million under the cap which means that they could put out a pretty sweet deal to Doan in hopes of luring the veteran to the Steel City.
Doan scored 22 goals and dished out 28 assists for 50 points total in 2011-12.
